Those who can not hear just want to be called Deaf.
But I want to be politically correct!

I don't want to be rude.
To the Deaf community it is not rude to call them Deaf,
so just use Deaf.
If you are still concerned go make a Deaf friend and they can explain all the ins and outs of what they want to be called.
That's up to you.
The handful of Deaf individuals I have met in my lifetime are very kind and non-judgmental, so you can ask and they are most likely not going to be offended over that.

It depends on where you live. If you need to have service
in the middle of nowhere, the odds are you have to go
with Verizon whether you want to or not.
Boost Mobile has service in most of the places I go,
except on my way home from work
(A 20 minute stretch) where it is a hit or miss.
I switched to MetroPCS, because they offered me a free phone and I needed one.
The old boost phone I had kept restarting when the memory got full.
Unfortunately, MetroPCS does not work in the bathroom at work.
Since I work in a preschool where children have accidents
and you need to call for backup from time to time that is a challenge.
It does work much better on the backroads on my way home from work.
NAD (National Association of the Deaf) Membership
It is an Association to that looks after the best interests of the Deaf Community.
This can be Federally. There are Chairpersons and Committees.
They even have a section for Interpreters for only $5 a year.
I think I might have to look into getting me a membership.
TTY
Before there was such a things as texting, there was texting or rather a Text Telephone
A TTY or Text Telephone was a way for deaf individuals to use the phone.
Two people needed a TTY for it to work.
The phone sat on the machine and you could type back and forth.
